MUSIC – PORTUGAL – 150’ aprox. – text

“UM AO MOLHE 2017 is back. From February to April, the itinerant One-Man-Bands festival will bring more than 50 artists to over 50 different locations. In Sala Hiroshima, Barcelona we have selected 3 One-Man-Bands on tour with the festival (O Manipulador | Surma | Tren Go! Sound System) and a solo artist currently living in Barcelona (Jorge da Rocha)

“UM AO MOLHE , the ambulatory One-Man-Bands’ festival is back on the road from February till April 2017. It will travel through Portugal, Spain and France showing the freshest solo artists around. So if you see a van named Kátia or a car that looks like a frog, both with loud speakers and packed with music stuff, join the party, there will be One-Man-Bands playing nearby.

One-Man-Bands and solo artists are a growing number these days. They’re a reflection of modern times, as technology is cheaper and easier to access, and the need to get in touch with our own self is bigger in the middle of so much noise.

We’ve been watching in Portugal to a boom of these individual wills to express oneself through music and we believe we live in a kind of golden age of Portuguese music. Our interest is to show some of the best emerging artists around, mixing them with local creative One-Man-Bands along the way, whenever possible.

This idea lead us to create in 2015 ‘UM AO MOLHE, a travelling One-Man-Bands festival’, that we’d love to see it go wherever there was the will to welcome it.

The first two years went very well, way over our best expectations. We’ve been enthusiasticly welcomed by partners, promoters and artists that resulting in having almost 350 concerts organized and curated by us (including around 10 Summer festival stages). We brought UM AO MOLHE to more than 50 different cities, 70 different venues and worked with almost 100 different One-Man-Bands and we also organized a few small workshops/masterclasses with the artists along the way.

We couldn’t feel happier and more confident, and we hope we can bring UM AO MOLHE to you.”.

Tren Go! Sound System – A psychadelic rock one-man-band. A journey through Pedro Pestana’s electric guitar and a wide variety of unexpected sounds
Jorge da Rocha – Double bass, voice, percussion and a loopstation in the hands of a single musician, presenting a mixture of his own compositions and personal interpretations of some crowd favorites.
