The most classical and modern Indian dance at the same time, arrives in Barcelona with a work of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore with a powerful message against gender discrimination.

The show will be presented by the Barcelona Kathak Project, artistic project directed by Fasih ur Rehman -legendary dancer indo-Afghan and National Dance Award in Pakistan – and Mangesh Dhakde, renowned Indian composer and musical director in Bollywood where has received numerous awards – showing the subtle combination of the most profound and traditional Indian roots with contemporary arrangements. Indian classical songs of Tagore dialogue with Catalan launching the idea that “we are what we want to be” beyond socially imposed roles.

Shreyashee Nag, co-director of Barcelona Kathak Project, began to develop the adaptation of “Soc Chitrangada” in 2013. It will be the first time that this written by the Nobel Prize in 1936 Tagore Indian work is presented in Catalan. Shreyashee Nag also chairs the Núpura Cultural Association aims to be a platform for cultural exchange between Spain and South Asia.

Agustin Paniker is editor, writer and indian culture specialist. Son of philosopher Salvador Pániker, is director of Kairos-Publisher and is the responsible for the Catalan adaptation of the original text of Tagore.
