HIROSHIMA SELECTION FOR DANSA. QUINZENA METROPOLITANA
55′

Paris based, Aina Alegre, is a Catalan choreographer and artist closely affiliated with Hiroshima. She first presented in the venue No se trata de un desnudo mitológico, awakening the venue’s interest due to the artistic affinity between the two. The following year Hiroshima invited her to present her first group piece, Le jour de la bête, where five performers offered a festive ritual inspired by the gestures and movements of popular festivities in Catalonia. Thanks to the collaboration with dansa. Quinzena Metropolitana, this year Hiroshima is co-producing La nuit, nos autres with French partners such as L’Atelier de Paris and Les Ballets de Loraine. La nuit, nos autres continues with the original question from the previous piece: What are the mechanisms we use to celebrate ourselves? Although in Le jour de la bête the question was addressing the group, in this new adventure the choreographer will focus on self-celebration, approaching the notion of identity and self empowerment. Mask and cabaret techniques are used in this choreographic polymorphism that will be premiered after a period of two weeks residency in the venue. A commitment by the venue to one of the most stimulating emerging choreographers of the moment.
