Untied Tales is like a twisted fairy tale, such as in the relationship between two children growing up in which we see the journey from innocence to defeat. Throughout the 60 minutes the piece lasts, this splendid duet of dancers shows us aspects of love; rupture, proximity and distance, light and shadow, hope and terror. The choreography, although abstract, cautiously incorporates gestures and movements that work like an impressionist painting, evoking vital moments that we all know. The urgency to reach the other, the partner, defines the rhythm of the piece. The electronic and intimate sound space creates an immersive atmosphere. Furey and Jasko combine their artistic baggage, between contemporary dance, traditional dance and performance, creating a hybrid style. Jasko moves in a circular, fluid, almost aerial motion; Furey accentuates the weight of the body, with more performative and frontal movements. A perfect balance of forces is created, where the masculine and the feminine play a fundamental role. A little gem of the Montreal scene and the 2018/2019 season in Hiroshima.
